The Glare of shell
the Glare of shell is a Romance of Maurice Leblanc, whose action proceeds during the First World War.
The intrigue of the novel follows the peregrinations of one character at the same time in search of his wife and her past.
Arsène Lupin does not appear that very briefly in this book (on ten lines), but its intervention gives to the hero the key of a enigma and makes it possible the intrigue not to remain blocked.
First publications
Supposed writes during the 2nd six-month period of 1914, the Glare of shell was initially published in 47 daily serials, of the September 21st to the November 7th 1915, in the columns of the Journal .
In this first version, Arsène Lupin did not appear, even in a fugitive way.
The first edition in volume, in its usual editor Pierre Lafitte, in November 1916, remained in conformity with the serials by maintaining this absence.
It is only at the time of the 2nd edition, in the same editor, in 1923, that Maurice Leblanc altered the novel to include the intervention of his favorite character there.
