The GOSIP is an American group of music originating in the Arkansas. Founded with Olympia, in the State of Washington in 1999, it is now established with Portland in the Oregon. The group is composed of three members: Beth Ditto with the Song, Brace Paine with the Guitar and Hannah Blilie with the battery, which replaced at this station Kathy Mendonca, which plays from now on in the group Soliah Shawcross. They were mainly influenced by the feminism and the groups of " Riot girrrl ", even if the group is not defined thus. In 1999, the group signs with the independent label K Records which produces their first recording éponyme: The GOSIP Since this event, Beth Ditto multiplied the public confessions, as much on its weight that on its sexuality.
Their next recording was their first album That' S not what I Heard, carried out by the label Kill Rock Star on January 23rd, 2001. One year later, on May 6th, 2003 their second album Movement appeared in the vats. Two months after the recording of their first album live Undead in NYC, on September 9th, the threshing-machine Kathy Mendonça announces that it leaves the group in order to continue a career as midwife. She will be replaced by Hannah Blilie
the singer Beth Ditto, homosexual, is very committed for the lesbian cause.
