The Fillmore
The Fillmore , also known under the name of Fillmore Auditorium , is a acqueillant place of the musical productions located at San Francisco in California and made famous for the producer in concert Bill Graham (1931 - 1991). It draws its name from its position to the intersection of Fillmore Street and Geary Boulevard.
In the middle of the Years 1960, it became the focal point of the psychedelic music and the Contre-culture in general, with artists like The Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, and Janis Joplin which made their beginnings there. In addition to the Rock'n'roll, Graham presents other spectacles like Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Otis Redding or even of the Hip hop with for example Fort Minor.
After a few years, because of the deterioration of the vicinity, in July 1968, Bill Graham move original Fillmore towards the ballroom of the Carousel ( Carousel Ballroom ) to the angle of Market and South Van Ness Avenue. The new establishment becomes Fillmore West (contrasts about it with the Fillmore East auditorium of Graham with New York).
After the death of Bill Graham in an accident of helicopter in 1991, its close relations decide to achieve his last wish and D-open first Fillmore which is become again one of the headlights places of San Francisco with spectacles every night.
