The Ferté-Left-handed person

the Ferté-Left-handed person is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called Fertois.

Geography

The city is located in Brie in the Vallée of the Grand Morin, to 80 km in the east of Paris, to 20 km of Coulommiers and 30 km of Provins.

It is crossed by the departmental 934 (ex Trunk road 34).
a station on a line of railroad connected it to Coulommiers, then Paris (Gare of the East) via Tournan. This line is not any more served and is from now on with the state of abandonment.

the locality is also mentioned by the name of Firmitas Galcherii. This name of Firmitas (of Latin Firmitis) results in solidity , firmness (in French, this last replaces ferté which will remain limited to the names of cities).
Become, from its acquisition, close to the Count de Champagne, Gaucher binds friendship with this powerful lord and wife one of her daughters. The latter brings in dowry the ground of Montmirail with as condition express that the first wire born of this marriage bears the name from there and pays faith and homage to him. This is why, during several centuries, the lords of the Ferté-Left-handed person were also lords of Montmirail.
