Summary
Jiggs is an American
of Irish origin
which becomes suddenly rich. He wants despite everything to preserve his life of man of the people and to continue to attend his friends with the bar. His wife, Maggie, only aspire to perfect her social rise.

September 15th 1948, after ten years of investigation, the prosecutor of the state of
New York announces that it succeeded in deciphering the code which hides behind the boards of Bringing Up Father. Indeed, since years, F.N. Goldsmith, a very important stockbroker, modified the texts of the strips of McManus (which could prove that it was foreign with this practice) to inform the initiates in which field it was advisable to invest for the next day.

McManus will make fortune with this comic twice: he will be millionaire first once until the crisis of 1929 does all to him to lose. He will however be with new also rich and will die millionaire, which is not the ordinary destiny of an author of cartoon.
