Synopsis

Fenouillard are the prototype of the commercial middle-class family. They are hosiers since three generations and enjoy the regard of all. Agénor Fenouillard postulates with the seat of mayor of its city, while Léocadie, his active wife, manages the store magnificiently and takes care perfectly of the education of his/her two daughters, Artémise and Cunégonde, coveted heiresses. Anatole and Polydore de Prémauté, as denied as desilvered, asked them in marriage…
