Concerning film

It was reproached Ridley Scott for carrying out a propaganda film. The assistance provided by the US army as councils and materials can support this thesis. However one can express some doubts on this aspect. Would be this only by the covered subject, which clearly shows an American defeat due to too much arrogance, and a too great confidence in their technological potential.

The speeches allotted to the soldiers, in particular that of the Delta force Norm Gibson (played by Eric Bana) is contrary to a patriotic speech or propagandist: “We do that for our buddies”, thus replaçant film at the purely human level, without political considerations. At least concerning the “American” side.

Political dimension, and possibly critical, is rather allotted to the “enemies”. To note a remark placed in the mouth of a “rebel”: “You them American, you cling to names. You think that by eliminating a person, you will regulate the problem. But you do not understand that if it falls, several are ready to take its place” which is to be brought closer to the American policy with respect to Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein where the American authorities seem to cling to a name rather than to regulate a situation, otherwise more complex.

Before the credits of end, some historical explanations are to be brought closer to this sentence: the general Mohamed Farrah Aidid dies in 1996, but the civil war does not stop therefore. This accredits this idea of the futility of the American action at the time of the battle of Mogadiscio.
