The Fairy Queen ( the Queen of the fairies ) is a Semi-opera composed by Henry Purcell in 1692 (first representation the May 2nd 1692 with the Dorset Garden Theater with London). The booklet is an anonymous adaptation (a possible author would be Thomas Betterton) famous part of William Shakespeare the one night dream of summer .
The part is divided in 5 acts. The text is sung by many soloists and a chorus SATB (Soprano, viola, Ténor, low), which generally repeats the main theme of the air. The orchestra is composed of two Flûte S, two Hautbois, two Trompette S, of the drinking cups, the cords and a Clavecin.
