The Everly Brothers

The Everly Brothers is a duet of singers of Rock and American Country music, made of two brothers, Don Everly, born the 1937 in Brownie (Kentucky), and Phil Everly, born the January 19th 1939 with Chicago (Illinois).

Biography

Everly Brothers are constituted in duet of professional singers in 1955. They are quickly noticed by the guitarist Chet Atkins, who makes them sign, in 1956, a first contract at Columbia Records, concluded by a disc. They sign then at Cadence Records and record their first successes: Bye Bye Coils (1957), Wake up Little Suzie (1957), All I Cuts To Do Is Dream (1958), which becomes number one in the United States, Claudette (1958), Bird Dog (1958), new number one, Problems (1958), Take has Message to Mary (1959), ('Til I) Kissed you (1959) and Let it Be Me (1959).

In 1960, Everly Brothers sign at Warner. Their first disc for this firm, Cathy' S Clown, becomes number one in Great Britain, then in the United States. Their popularity starts to decline with the appearance of the English vocal groups. They separate in 1973, continuing their career each one on their side, in solo. They are found in 1983.

Everly Brothers brought a its original to the rock'n'roll and the country music, thanks to their mélodieuses voices, with the acidulous tone. The Beatles admitted that the American duet had influenced their vocal technique and their natural successors in the United States are Simon and Garfunkel, which took again Bye bye besides coils with their repertory.
