The Escaped prisoners (film, 1994)

the Escaped prisoners or In the shade of Shawshank in Quebec ( The Shawshank Redemption ), is an American film carried out by Frank Darabont, left the September 10th 1994. This film is inspired by the news Rita Hayworth and the redemption of Shawshank of Stephen King.

Summary

1947. An American banker, Andy Dufresne, are considered to be guilty murder of his wife and the lover with which it misled it. For this double murder, it is condemned to undergo two consecutive custodial sentences with life, and is found imprisoned in the federal penitentiary of Shawshank, in the State of the Maine. The head warden, Samuel Norton, who is an ambitious man and Petri of the traditional biblical values, is supported by a brutal chief warden and without pity, the captain Byron Hadley, who does not fear to resort to a violence plugs (until the death of prisoners so necessary) in order to make respect the discipline.

Andy, not very communicative to the beginning of its imprisonment, however binds friendship with certain prisoners, in particular an individual of black color, which is ironically made call Red (" It east can-être" , he, " say; because I am Irish… "), as of the band which revolves around red. One day, whereas it recovers tar the roof of one of the buildings of the prison, during a collective work, Andy suddenly proposes to the Hadley chief warden his services as regards Fiscalité, and this in a very bold way. This initiative leads it to come very close to little death, Hadley threatening to project it over the roof. But Andy arrives in-extremis convincing Hadley of these competences, and it is the beginning of a relation " of affaires" with the guards, with which Andy is given the responsability to fill the income tax returns, but also, and especially with the head warden, Samuel Norton. The director charges Andy with " blanchir" its illegal incomes, resulting from the bribes related to the markets passed with the community for the exploitation of the prisoners in collective work apart from the prison. Following one énième attack of the " 3 soeurs" , which results in a violent drubbing from Andy, leaving it more dead than sharp, the chief warden Hadley (who protects Andy now, within sight of his interest for the Norton director) inflicts a pitiless correction with the one of these attacker, returning Boggs, it with final paraplegic and hospitalized with life, and consequently makes cease the torments of Andy in a final way, the other prisoners knowing now that it is untouchable.

With the wire of long years and after many letters sent to the Senate of Maine (a letter per week, then after the first success two letters per weeks…), Dufresne manages to obtain a budget as well as a stock important of books, reviews and discs to furnish miteuse the Bibliothèque with the prison. Transferred laundry to this place since Andy started to deal with the income tax returns of the guards, it uses the library and these appendices as office for these various activities: the council in Taxation (from where he engages every year and on regular dates Red and his band, so that they help it to organize the mass of the declarations), but also a place of relieving and cultural discovery for the prisoners. Moreover, Andy helps the prisoners who wish to resume their studies, and involves them in order to pass from the examinations.

1965. This year arrives at Shawshank a young hooligan named Tommy Williams, called by Red " Mr. Rock'n'roll ". Following the declarations of Tommy, that Andy with taken under its wing, it understands that it responsible for did not die for his wife and her lover. Tommy côtoyé at the time of a preceding stay in prison the true murderer, who while pavanant itself, told him all the history. Indeed, the advanced state of intoxication of Dufresne at the time of the murder removed all to him to remember the terrible event, although he protested his innocence since the beginning. During this time, Norton questions Tommy, and, consolidated by its testimony and its will to help Dufresne to reveal the truth, Norton makes eliminate Tommy by Captaine Hadley, by making up this murder in escape bid. The Norton following day will see Andy with insulation, tells him what it passed, and threatens to withdraw any protection to him if he sought by some means that it is with to continue these " Dreams ". After two months of detention in cell of insulation, Dufresne, apparently broken, takes again its life and its usual routine with the prison, dominated by Norton and these threats. After a certain time, Red, becoming anxious about the moral one of Andy, more silent than ever, and being afraid which it does not commit suicide, learns that it got a length of cord to the workshop. Not being able to speak to him about all the day, it endures one night terrible without sleep, anxious of what could arrive the following day… Until the next morning or one learns… that Dufresne escaped! The conjunction of the hammer size-stones, of the posters of Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, and Raquel Welch, as well as time, quasi inexhaustible food product for Andy Dufresne, will have dug a way to him through the prison, towards freedom… that will have taken only 19 years… (“Geology, it is the science of patience and time, and of time it had some”)

Andy Dufresne escapes in a spectacular way and denounces the corruption of the director. This one puts an end to its days to avoid the prison.

A few months later, his/her friend Red leaves prison and, despizing his release on word, joined Dufresne with the Mexico, as promised, at the place called Zihuatanejo. The final scene of film being appearance of Red going on a long beach, with the meeting of Andy, occupied sandpapering its ship on the bank, which, recognizing his/her friend, joined it and the accodance gives him.
