The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall
The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is a video game of role published by Bethesda Softworks in 1996 on PC. It is about the second episode of the series The Elder Scrolls. Successor of Arena and inspirer of Morrowind , Daggerfall constitutes one of the rare plays offering an almost total freedom to the player. He uses the graphic engine XnGine.
Universe
Daggerfall is a roleplay on computer where the player incarnates only one character for subjective 3D. In this play, the player evolves/moves in a region called the Bay of Iliac (which graphically points out a little the circumference the Mediterranean N) in the search of adventures. Just as in Arena or Morrowind , the choice of the character and his control is entirely left at the discretion of the player. There are immense regions to explore (45 000 km ² according to Bethesda, 116.000 km ² according to calculations of the players, seas and oceans included/understood) and an immense number of characters not players (PNJ) with whom the player can dialog (more than 3 million). The planners of the play of Bethesda Softworks acknowledge to be themselves inspired of the freedom of the universe of The Legend off Zelda.
Gameplay
The player chooses his character among 8 races (elves, human, animal), and 18 classes. He also has the possibility of creating his own class. He or it will be then defined (E) by 8 characteristics and 27 competences going of the combat to the axe until the knowledge of the label while passing by the restoration, the pickpocket or the picking of the locks. The player has 18 different types of weapons, in 10 specific materials. Its armor is made up of 7 parts of 12 possible materials. A robber can carry the same armor only one barbarian: to climb the roofs would be then too dangerous, even impossible. This makes it possible to obtain a management of the character pointed and realistic. To move, the player has the choice between walk, the race on foot, the stroke, the boat, to fly, the carriole, the horse, to climb, crawl…
As in the majority of the roleplays, the discussion is paramount to make a success of the searches. The searches, very many (of Add-Ons realized by players are available on the Net) completely independent of the principal search, which, at the beginning, is very vague. These searches will make it possible to improve its character, to forge a reputation to him, to make it climb in the row of the Guilds (official or not, the such Guild of the Assassins). Only the tone chosen for the conversations influences the course of the play!
The player can contract diseases like the Peste, but also the lycanthropie, semi-man semi-animal (vampire, wolf, wild boar). Trade, to haggle over, sell objets d'art (tables…) (a tradesman seedy character is not forgotten will buy the treasures at ransom price compared to a shop of luxury), nor the repair of the weapons near the blacksmiths.
The player has access to of ItemMaker in order to enchanting itself of the objects to measure, with the possibility of imprisoning hearts captured with the combat there; in the same way PotionMaker for concocter of the magic receipts and to play sorcerer's apprentice by randomly mixing the ingredients of its choice. SpellMaker make it possible to create its own fates in addition to the hundred fates affiliated to the 6 schools of magics.
Very buggué at the time of its exit (many graphics present in the files of the play but not exploited leave think that it had to be left precipitately), Daggerfall was corrected since by the developers. The last patch in date is the 2.13.
This play does not require a powerful machine with chart 3D, it is however untraceable with the sale, except on sites of sale on line or in salesmen of plays of occasion.
