the Effect butterfly ( The Butterfly Effect ) is an American film carried out by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber and left in 2004.
Synopsis
During its childhood, Evan Treborn had lapseen of memory during which serious events occurred. First place at the elementary school has, where, the mistress asking the pupils to draw what they wanted to do later, it represented herself like the murderer of two people. The fact is that after these lapseen of memory often occurs a dramatic event. After a doctor visit, Evan must write on books its days. At the adulthood, Evan wants to include/understand what occurred during these lapseen of memory. But its awkward research on a pedophilia case leads to the suicide of a friend of childhood. Reading again its books of childhood, it realizes that the reading of these books enables him to return to the event and to change it. But these changes each time have enormous impacts on what him and his/her friends of childhood became, and each situation leads to the death of somebody, or an tragic event. From where the subtitle of film: Changer a thing changes all. During film, including/understanding little by little what occurred during its lapseen of memory, Evan tries to change the course of the things.
Several ends
As for Brazil of Terry Gilliam, there exist two versions of the end of film: a fine “producer” and a fine “realizer”. Although the version “producer” does not fall too much into the stereotype “Happy end”, the film takes all its value and its direction with the fine “realizer”.
Thus, with the cinema, the film finishes after Evan, returned in its childhood at the time of its first meeting with Kelly, strikes some sentences to him which will prevent that it remains in her father for him… After that, one finds the two adult characters crossing in a street in the middle of crowd and, according to the version - there are three of them -, either they speak each other, or they are avoided.
But very an other end is also available, which would probably have been censured: too much " trash" , too nihilist. Because, here, Evan decides to return in the belly of his/her mother and to be hung with its umbilical cord in order not to exist!. This fine alternative, so called " Director' S Cut" , was then diffused via edition DVD Collector.
In the version " Director' S Cut" , there is, in addition to the end at the hospital, an added scene 3 minutes when Evan and its mother will consult conspicuous. The latter is horrified with the idea to discover that Evan “does not have will have, not heart” and that “it should not be here” (the words of conspicuous are found besides in fine the alternative to the hospital).
With final, one indeed has 4 (3 + 1) fine different, each one bringing to film a completely different emotional impact.
