The Echo of Savannas
the Echo of Savannas is a review of Cartoon created in May 1972 by Claire Bretécher, Marcel Gotlib and Nikita Mandryka and taken again in 1982 by the editions Albin Michel, which make an erotism and news magazine of it with some pages as a cartoon. The publication was suspended by it in December 2006.
History
(1972 - 1982)
Quarterly formula and almost only made up of the bands of its three founders, Marcel Gotlib, Claire Bretécher and Nikita Mandryka, the review becomes two-monthly starting from number 11, then monthly with number 16. The principal authors are then Moebius, Jean Solé, Rene Pétillon, Robert Crumb, Martin Veyron, Jean-Claude Forest or Philippe Vuillemin. The newspaper ceases first once appearing in January 1982
(1982 - 2006)
A new formula, more related to the erotism, is published by the editions Albin Michel as from November 1982. The principal authors are then Baru, Tanino Liberatore, Milo Manara, Frank Margerin, Ptiluc, Alex Varenne or Tronchet.A weekly version, initially named Hebdo Écho of Savannas then Ebdo was launched in 1984 in the place of monthly magazine during a few months.
Considering the structurally overdrawn title, the direction of Lagardere Active Media suspends the publication in December 2006 abruptly of it, whereas the January issue of was ready. Negotiations would have taken place for a recovery by the Toulon-native group Sun Productions.
But it is finally Glénat which would take again the publication of the magazine as from January 2008, at the time of the International festival of the cartoon of Angouleme. Didier Tronchet would be editor association.
