Very free interpretation of the Romance of Rafael Sabatini ( The Sea Hawk ), it is less faithful to this one than silent film of the same name left in 1924.

Synopsis

Geoffrey Thorpe is a pirate who decides to attack the Spanish ships on behalf of the crown of England. Captured, he discovers the Spanish plans to attack England: it escapes then to warn the Queen.

The final speech of the queen, saying that it is duty of the free men to fight and that the world does not belong to only one man, aimed the British public directly, then into full Second world war.
