the Deer ( The Beast ), of its true name Henry “Hank” Philip McCoy, is a Super-héros of Comic S of the universe Marvel. It was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and appeared for the first time in the first number of X-Men (September 1963).

The Deer is a mutant member of the X-Men and Vengeurs.

History of the character

The change of Henry McCoy appears with adolescence. Although it uses it initially to excel in the athletic disciplines, it is quickly confronted with the Ostracisme and an irrational hostility on behalf of the human normal ones. The young man is then approached by the Professor Xavier, who is informed of his gifts of mutant. He gives the opportunity to him to join his school for exceptionally gifted young people, an organization making it possible to inform the young mutants disabled by acquisition of their capacities.

Henry joined the school of Xavier and integrates the team of X-Men, of which it is one of the founding members. Under the aegis of the Professor, it follows studies of mathematics and literature while it is involved regularly in famous the Salle of the Dangers . With Iron Man, Red Richards and Henry Pym, it is one of the most brilliant brains of the Univers Marvel.

The Deer joined then the team of the Vengeurs during a few years when it binds friendship with Wonder Man. When the founders of X-Men create X-Factor, McCoy leaves the Avengers to follow them. During this period, it becomes again temporarily human but its intellect declines with each time it makes use of its force. Its return to the state of " Bête" restore its physical and mental faculties. During the renewal of Factor X, it finds the team of X-Men.

The Deer evolves/moves now with a cat-like silhouette. It becomes more timid and careful, his/her boyfriend of long time Trish Tilby breaks with him. By learning that a remedy is suitable for reverse the process of change, it seriously plans to take it. But, to avoid sending an ambiguous message to the remainder of the mutant community on its faculty to assume itself, he finally prefers to give up it.

Hank McCoy has a double known under the name of Dark Beast , which is escaped saga Age off Apocalypse right before the end of its existence. Dark Beast has all the capacities and the intelligence of the Deer without having neither its ethics, nor its morals. He learned the organic chemistry and the genetics from Mister Sinistre.

Ultimate Marvel

In this line of cartoons, Henry Mc Coy joined X-Men as of the beginning. Following wounds, it undergoes Clerc's Offices of which the side effects dye the hair in blue to him. Little time afterwards, Weapon X will increase its capacities by modifying its appearance to him (making it similar to that of the traditional universe).
When Tornado and broke to him, it was put at the Tchat on Internet, but its flirt was in fact Blob, an assistant of Magneto which was made pass for a girl. However, the Deer revealed to him that Magneto had not died but alive with a memory modified by Charles Xavier.

Later, when Emma Frost founded her own institute (under the aegis of the government of the USA), the Deer accepted to integrate it, but was killed little out of time after, at the moment when Emma Frost publicly announced the existence of her academy.
