the Debate is a founded French intellectual review in 1980 by the historian Pierre Nora. This one thus defines the spirit in which the review was conceived: For which had, with beginning of the year 80, the acute feeling of a world in all connections new, the task was clear: to fight on two faces, against the media reduction on a side, the university specialization of the other . Three axes were privileged: history, the policy, the company.

The director of this bimonthly review is Pierre Nora and its editor association is the philosopher Marcel Gauchet, assisted Krzysztof Pomian.
