the De luxe hotel was, of 1978 with 1983, a place Paris IEN with the mode where the relations between the mode crystallized, the Musique, the “  knack parisien  ” and the Culture underground.

The place has an animated history. It opens its doors in 1923. It is a Music-hall which takes, in 1933, the name of Alcazar (like celebrates it Alcazar open Marseilles in 1866). Become cinema in 1946, after the Second world war, it recovers its name of origin: The De luxe hotel. Of 1975 with 1978, it becomes again a theater directed by Pierre Laville.

The building of the Montmartre suburb is almost with the abandonment, but the Minister for the Culture of Valery Giscard d'Estaing, Michel Guy, chooses the place to install the new whole there Festival of autumn in Paris.

Then, the place is repurchased by one of the characters of the Parisian night, owner of restaurants and nightclubs, Fabrice Emaer, which carries out important work there and makes carry out the decoration of the place to the painter Gerard Garouste. March 1st, 1978, Fabrice Emaer opens this space with a show of Grace Jones, international mannequin, high-speed motorboat and singer. The waiters vêtus of blazing costumes red and gold are equipped by the dressmaker Thierry Mugler.

Very quickly the De luxe hotel becomes the place with the mode and the discotheque more (and best) attended capital. The evenings with topics follow one another it. The dressmakers Kenzo, Karl Lagerfeld, etc, organize processions and festivals there. Groups of artists of the time such as the smoking Moslems exposed there. In 1980, Fabrice Emaer opens under the De luxe hotel a nightclub, the Privilege , reserved with the jet set and the princes and princesses of the night.

Embanked by a cancer of the kidneys, Fabrice Emaer dies in 1983. It is the one time end. The firm De luxe hotel. In 1992, Régine, “  Queen of the Night parisienne  ”, the site begins again which closes again in 1996. In the years which follow, the unused De luxe hotel is occupied by a squatt. In 2007, the Alil brothers and Hazis Vardar, Belgians of Albanian origin repurchased the room with the supplement of Francis and Chantal Lemaire, owners of Radio operator Contact in Belgium. The Vardar brothers, already owners of many theaters in Belgium, in Toulouse, in Montpellier and Avignon, are also owners in Paris of the Comedy Republic and the Large Comedy, of the rooms of 200 and 400 places which they fill every evening with very effective comedies. After its rehabilitation, they will reopen the De luxe hotel 1.100 places to install there since 2007 of the popular comedy, the One man show S and of the television programs.

The great time

The De luxe hotel was, for the end of the Années 1970 and the beginning of the Années 1980, a mythical place, very related to the pop music with the emergence of the gay culture.

Among its accustomed or its most known visitors (to quote only some of them) appear Alain Pacadis, of the newspaper Libération which, in its chronicles, very often evoked the De luxe hotel and its accustomed; the dressmaker Karl Lagerfeld; the semiologist Roland Barthes, professor at the Collège de France; the singer Mick Jagger; the American artist Andy Warhol; the journalist Frederic Mitterrand; the decorator Andree Putman; the scenario writer and draftsman Jean-Paul Goude; the mannequin and singer Grace Jones; the Kenzo dressmaker; the dressmaker Yves the St. Lawrence; the chairman of Yves the St. Lawrence and friend of François Mitterrand Pierre Bergé; the actress Alice Sapritch; the imitator high-speed motorboat Thierry the Lad; the advertizing executive and man of television Thierry Ardisson; the artists Pierre and Gilles, the galerist Cyril Putman, etc
