The Dawn (boat)

the Dawn is a Barque with lateen sails which sails on the Lac Léman, and which is amarée with Saint-Gingolph.

Boats of the lake Léman

Boat of great dimension to Latin aerofoil, they are a reproduction with identical boats of transport of use on the Lac Léman of the XVII {{E}} at the beginning of the 20th century. They were used in particular with transport of the blocks of stone of the career as Meillerie, in Haute-Savoie, for the construction of Geneva (Suisse).

They could transport up to 180 tons per voyage. In 1900, the lake Léman counted 60 more boats in activity.

the Dawn

It is into 1997 that is constituted with St-Gingolph association “the Friends of Carriage”, having for goal the rebuilding and the exploitation of carriage of Léman. Construction starts in 1999, with the shipyard Amiguet in Bouveret. the Dawn is launched with old in the port of Bâtiaz with Saint-Gingolph.
