The Damned (group)
The Damned is a group of new wave and Punk British rock'n'roll , created in 1976, and originating in Croydon, in the suburbs of London. Damned are famous to have been the first punk group with launching an individual and makes a round in the United States. Damned are also known to be reformed many times and to have incorporated several styles in their music, in particular the Garage rock'n'roll, the Rock psychedelic, the theatrical rock'n'roll of Screaming Lord Sutch, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band and New Romantic. They are also regarded as one of the founders groups of the Gothic Rock. During the time 1979 with 1984, they were a source of important inspiration for the young American groups of punk Hardcore.
History
The original members of the group Dave Vanian (David Lett), Sensitive Captain (Ray Burns) and Rat Scabies (Chris Miller) were all members of almost legendary the Masters Of The Backsides.The guitarist of origin, Brian James (Brian Robertson), before belonging to Damned, played in the punk group London S, a formation which never gave concert, but whose members were later the popular founders of groups such as The Clash and Generation X. Rat Scabies also tried to become beater of the London S, but was refused.
The Damned gave their first concert on July 6th 1976, accompanied by the Sex Pistols with the 100 Club to London. August 21st, 1976, the group occurred with the arenas of Mount-with-Marsan, first festival European Punk. Then they launched individual the New Pink on the independent label Stiff Records. They were thus the first British punk group to record an individual .
