The Cry of freedom

the Cry of freedom ( Cry Freedom ) is a film of Richard Attenborough left in 1987 which tells the reserve that certain newspapers have to obtain their information of the first sources, which can contribute to harm the reputation of certain individuals and certain groups. The film was made to Mombasa, with the Kenya, in England, and with the Zimbabwe.

Synopsis

It is question of the Meurtre of Steve Biko under police detention in South Africa. Kevin Kline plays the part of a liberal journalist (Donald Woods), friend of Biko, which tries to find the truth in the business. What is particular in the history, it is that Kline belonged to those which interpret information without going on the ground, until the day of a decisive meeting with Biko where it takes time to listen to the version of the group not represented by the media of the time. After having tried to reveal the inequitable situation in which are these people, him and its family leaves the country in order to ensure their safety. The intrigue of film proceeds just after the Massacre of Soweto.
