The Cry (film, 1957)

the Cry ( It Grido ) is an Italian film carried out by Michelangelo Antonioni, left in 1957.

Synopsis

Aldo is a day laborer of the north of Italy. He lives in couple with Irma while the husband of the latter works in Australia. With died of this last, Irma announces to him that it gives up the marriage and leaves it. It then leaves the city with his little girl and travels during several months on the roads of Italy. It meets many women then: Elvia, in love with him since always, Virginia, which hold a service station while dealing with his/her alcoholic father, Andreina, released young girl. But the memory of Irma torments it: Aldo ends up returning in its village, where the inhabitants are threatened of expropriation because of construction of an air base, and commits suicide.
