The Council of Pierre (film)

the stone Council is a French film of Guillaume Nicloux left in 2006.

Adapted novel éponyme of Jean-Christophe Grangé (author of the Rivers crimsons and of Empire of the wolves ) by Guillaume Nicloux itself and Stephan Cabel, the film recalls the adventures of a woman who carries out her own survey in order to discover the real origins of her missing adoptive child.

The turning of film took place in Mongolia (in particular with the Monastère of Gandantegchinlin to Ulan-Bator) and in France (with Paris). This fourth Feature-length film of the realizer puts in scene Monica Belluci, Catherine Deneuve, Elsa Zylberstein, Sami Bouajila, the German actor Moritz Bleibtreu and the Italian Lorenzo Balducci.

Synopsis

The first scene occurs some share in Mongolia, 30 years ago, in a center withdrawn in full forest held by Russians. A couple is introduced into a building and releases an old Asian man. At the time of this escape bid, they are surprised and are cut down. The woman, who to lie dying at the bottom of a well, looks at last once a medallion or it is discovered that it and her partner is parents of a baby.

Eastern Siberia, 30 years later. Laura Siprien, French young woman, go in a center of adoption in order to recover its adoptive future wire, Liu-San, of Mongolian origin, then two years old.

Paris, a few years later. Liu-San is a young boy of almost seven years. For some time, Laura and its son are plunged in common nightmares and dreams. A strange mark appears on the chest of the boy. A few days before his birthday, the child is removed. Laura Siprien leaves to research the origins his/her son, and flies away for Mongolia.

Distribution

A failure

In spite of a prestigious distribution, a campaign of posters and trailers early and an important budget (for the French-speaking cinema), the Council Of Pierre is a failure on all the levels: critical failure and near the public: the film does not find its place in the month of November 2006 rich in exits of thrillers (in particular the other thriller French do not say it to anybody but also Babel , The Prestige , The Black Dahlia ) and of comedies which met a sharp success (in particular Prête me your hand which was at the head French boxoffice three weeks lasting but also Borat , Sexy Dance , Scoop ). The following week of the November 22nd 2006 will complete film with the exits of the mastodons of the autumn which were Casino Royal , Saw III , The Host and Cœurs . It is thus real failure for the film which remained in the boxoffice only two weeks, in spite of its great diffusion (377 copies for the week of exit).
