The Communauté of communes of the Country of Essarts is a French inter-commune structure , located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire.

Composition

It includes/understands the following communes:

• Boulogne: 547 inhabitants (1999)
• Essarts: 4.186 inhabitants (1999)
• Merlatière: 646 inhabitants (1999)
• the Goose: 835 inhabitants (1999)
• Holy-Cecile: 1.393 inhabitants (2005)
• Holy-Florence: 857 inhabitants (1999)
• Saint-Martin-of-Walnut trees: 2.121 inhabitants (2004)

That corresponds to the communes of the Canton of Essarts except those of the Tool bag and Dompierre-on-Yon which belong to the Communauté of communes of the La Roche-sur-Yon-native Country.

History

The community of communes of the Country of Essarts was created on January 1st, 1994 in the continuity of a precedent Intercommunity association with multiple vocations (SIVOM) which gathered initially the communes of Boulogne, Merlatière, Essarts, the Tool bag, the Goose, Holy-Florence (the Sixties). The communes of Dompierre-on-Yon, Holy-Cecile and Saint Martin's day of the Walnut trees join the SIVOM in May 1978. The community of communes takes again competences of the SIVOM which east dissolves in January 1994. The communes of Dompierre-on-Yon and the Tool bag join the community of communes of the La Roche-sur-Yon-native Country.
