The Community of communes of Thouarsais

The community of communes of Thouarsais is located at the north of the department Two-Sevres in the area Poitou-Charentes. It belongs to the Pays Thouarsais.

Composition

The community of communes is composed of twelve communes, that is to say a population of 23.609 inhabitants:
  • Brie: 213 inhabitants
  • Louzy: 1.145 inhabitants
  • Mauzé-Thouarsais/Rigné: 2.038
  • Put: 851 inhabitants
  • Oiron and its common partners (Bilazais and Noizé): 711 in Oiron, 111 in Bilazais, and 137 inhabitants with Noizé
  • Saint-Jacques-with-Thouars: 477 inhabitants
  • Saint-Jean-with-Thouars: 1.373 inhabitants
  • Saint-Leger-with-Montbrun: 1.208 inhabitants
  • Holy-Radégonde: 2.076 inhabitants
  • Holy-Rod: 1.364 inhabitants
  • Taizé and its common partner (Maulais): 747 inhabitants, 567 for Taizé and 180 for Maulais
  • Thouars: 11.158 inhabitants.

The council is composed of 37 deputy holders and 12 deputy substitutes. President (since April 2001): Mr. Alain Ligné.

History

  • the District of Thouars was created between the communes of Louzy, Missé, Saint-Jacques-with-Thouars, Saint-Jean-with-Thouars, Holy-Radégonde, Thouars, by order of the prefect of December 29th 1972.

  • Since this date, two common to whole share and a common partner joined the district: Holy-Rod in January 1984 then Mauzé-Thouarsais and its common partner Rigné in January 1997.

  • the District becomes Communauté of Communes of Thouarsais, by order of the prefect of December 22nd 1998.

  • Then, four common to whole share and three common partners join the intercommunality: Saint-Leger-with-Montbrun in January 2000, Taizé and its common partner Maulais in January 2003, Oiron and its common partners Bilazais and Noizé in January 2004 and finally Brie in January 2005.

Town and country planning

Development of the Local plan of town planning, policy of the habitat (a POIH Programmed Operation Improvement of the Habitat urban renewal and a traditional POIH are currently being studied to make it possible to revitalize the center town, and them centers boroughs).

Economic development and social

  • Installation of an inter-commune economic zone on the sector of Burlandes.
  • Reception and assistance of the various carriers of projects.
  • Revalorization of the existing zones and development of the complementary zones.
  • Management of a pole multiservices around employment, of insertion, information, in the old buildings of the hospital Anne Desrays.

Environment

Social development, sociocultural animation

  • Coordination and harmonization of the services and animations in favor of the reprocessed and old people (service Comm' Generations).
  • Financial support with the sociocultural center.
  • Assistances with the classes transplanted for the children provided education for on the Community of communes.
  • Management of kennels with Pompois.
  • Management of a surface of reception of the travelling entertainers (road of Loudun).

Inter-commune culture

  • Management of the school of dance to sports complex with Holy-Rod.
  • Management of the inter-commune school of music approved in the Arts center Jacques Prévert (with Thouars).

Sports

  • Management of sports equipment and support for the clubs
  • Animation and organization of sports events.

Tourist development

  • Management and museographic animation of the space of the Mill of Bursting, Walk of Apple trees, tourist Lodging house of Châtelier with Put
  • Valorization of the Valley of Thouet.
  • Management of a Geological Center of Interpretation of Thouarsais, with the Stables of the Castle of the Dukes of Trémoïlle (round point of the March 19th 1962).
