Competences
The principal actions of the community of agglomeration of the Voironnais Country relate to:
- the management of waste (collection, sorting and recycling with its 8 déchetteries);
- treatment and routing of drinking water;
- the respect and maintenance of natural spaces;
- economic installation, tourism;
- the management of the transport (urban and interurban, like the new lines of bus of Voiron).
History

1974, the SMAV (Mixed trade-union of Installation of Voironnais). Its actions are centered on:
- the management of household waste (collection and treatment);
- drinking water supply and the reprocessing of waste water;
- of the social actions in favor of the young people, the recipients of the RMI, the elderly and handicapped (formation in particular);
- improvement of the habitat.
- 1994, the Community of communes. Its action evolves to an economic reinforcement.
- 2000, the Community of agglomeration. The intervention of the Community of the Voironnais Country is articulated around 4 competences headlights:
- economic development;
- Community fitting-out;
- environment and the framework of life;
- equal opportunity and territorial solidarity.
In order to better harmonize the economic assets of the communes of the community of agglomeration, the Voironnais Country set up a single rate for the professional tax, which it touches completely. The communes receive, they, the benefit of the taxes of the households.
