The Community of agglomeration of the Country of Aix

The Communauté of agglomeration of the Country of Aix is a French inter-commune structure , located in the departments of the Rhone delta and the Vaucluse, and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.

History

December 21st 1993, the six communes of Aix-en-Provence, Goat-Beautiful-Air, Coudoux, Holy Cannat, Alleys and Vitrolles constituted the Communauté of communes Country of Aix. During years which followed, 13 new communes will make their entry. It is finally within the framework of the Loi Chevènement that those decided to form in January 2001 the Communauté of agglomeration of the Country of Aix , extending to this occasion the perimeter with 14 new communes. In January 2002 the commune of Mimet joined the CPA, thus carrying the community of agglomeration to 34 communes, for 332.651 inhabitants and 129.617 hectares (1 296 km ²).
