The Community of agglomeration of Large Toulouse

The Communauté of agglomeration of Large Toulouse is a French inter-commune structure , located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

History

Since 1992, Toulouse joined common neighbors, forming the district of Large Toulouse. Initially composed of fifteen communes, it accommodated six novel members in 2000 then was transformed into Communauté of agglomeration the same year. Four other communes joined it in 2003.

Although the Toulouse agglomeration has the necessary size to form a Urban community, this one cannot be created. Indeed, because of political competitions, the community gathers only 61% of the population of the urban surface.

The other communities existing in the urban surface are:

  1. the Community of agglomeration of Muretain: 59.348 inhabitants

  2. the Community of agglomeration of Sicoval: 57.848 inhabitants, with Labège-Innopole
  3. the Community of communes of Save in Touch: 29.284 inhabitants
