The Community of agglomeration Limoges Metropolis

The Communauté of agglomeration Limoges Métropole is a French inter-commune structure , located in the department of the High-Vienna and the area the Limousin.

History

The community of agglomeration Limoges Métropole is an inter-commune regrouping which organizes the agglomeration of the town of Limoges, in France. It was created by order of the prefect of the November 22nd 2002, fascinating effect at January 1st 2003.

It succeeds the Communauté of communes of the Agglomeration of Limoges , created in 2001.

Composition

At January 1st 2004, it includes/understands 17 communes for 184.241 inhabitants (Population without double accounts, 1999. Is. 2006: 188.500 hab. approx.)

It is chaired by Alain Rodet, mayor of Limoges.

On a territory of 437,5 km ², the agglomeration of Limoges gathers nearly 75.000 employment.

Competences

The total budget of the CALM rose in 2003 to 118 million euros. The members of the community of agglomeration divide themselves into 9 commissions sets of themes:

  • Main roads of roadway system
  • Nouveaux cultural equipment and sportsmen
  • Accueil of the travelling entertainers
  • Gestion of waste
  • Urban transport
