The community of Maurienne-Galibier communes was created by order of the prefect of December 27th 1990

The community of Maurienne-Galibier communes gathers 6 communes:- Saint-Martin-in Arc
- Saint-Martin-of-the-Carries
- Saint-Michel-with-Maurienne
- Valloire
- Valmeinier
