Synopsis

The Romans have a plan: they will ask a chief of Gallo-Roman village to defy at the time of a combat of the chiefs Abraracourcix. All that they have to make is to capture Panoramix before the combat to deprive its chief of magic potion.

The Romans manage to remove Panoramix, but Astérix and Obélix intervenes at once. This last launches a menhir which falls on the druid. Panoramix loses the memory and the reason. And it is at this time that the Gallo-Roman chief is able to defy Abraracourcix. Astérix and Obélix are charged to look after Panoramix.

Characters

Astérix gets busy to rectify the tragic situation created by the awkwardness of Obélix.

Obélix is that by which the scandal arrives: wanting to save Panoramix of the removal projected by the Romans, it strikes it of a blow of menhir which makes partly lose the reason and completely the memory with the druid. Having the brilliant intuition that one can cure the evil by the evil, it is with two fingers to start again the same silly thing whereas Panoramix has just found health and memory. During this episode, Obélix shows bad faith, intelligence, sensitivity, humor (“ Mieux is worth being an elephant than a rat… a rat bougri, especially ”) and preoccupation with a its appearance.

Panoramix the druid is the principal stake of the adventure, as it was it in Astérix and Goths . Here, the Romans plan his removal to deprive the village of its invincibility. The plan seems initially a failure (Panoramix is not removed) then a success, the druid having become insane; besides it finds the “very pretty” music of Assurancetourix.

Abraracourcix the chief of the village, taken with the trap tended by Langélus on the councils of Anchylosed, must face the Gallo-Roman chief Aplusbégalix. Its final victory at the time of the “Combat of the Chiefs” is acquired “naturally”, without the help of the magic potion.

Aplusbégalix, chief of the village of Serum, pro-Romain, defies Abracoucix when he learns that this last, private of potion by the amnesia of Panoramix, will not be invincible any more.

Centurion Langélus, Roman centurion, chief of the psychological Fine camp, it knows exorter his men as it should be to launch them in the final combat which ends in the Roman failure.

Anchylosed, its assistant and adviser, is the Machiavel which found the trick of the “Combat of the Chiefs”.
