the Colossus of Rhodes is a film free-italo-Spanish carried out by Sergio Leone in 1961.

Synopsis

Darios, Greek military hero, return visit to his/her uncle to Rhodos in 280 front J.C. Rhodos has just completed the construction of an enormous statue (the colossus ) of Apollon to protect his port and considers an alliance with the Phénicie against the Greece. Darios éprend of pretty Diala, girl of the architect of the statue, but it is also implied with a group of rebels carried out by Peliocles. These rebels seek to reverse the Xerxès tyrant, in the same way moreover as its second, Therion. The rebels are captured and forced to amuse crowd in the arena, but an earthquake reverses the colossus and… the capacity.

Anecdote

Although having already certain experience of the direction to the cinema, it seems that this film either the first of which Sergio Leone or the only person in charge. But it is also the film which it has to more like to realize. Moreover, it made there some appearances at the time of sways in the crowd.
