Synopsis

New York, one night, a woman is attacked at it by two individuals. They deaden it with the Chloroforme, drown it in its bath-tub, and its jewels conceal to him. A few hours later one of both gets rid of the other. The police force inquires into the first crime, convenes the suspects, of holds one, supervises it. A young police officer establishes the link between the two businesses…

Comment

The film made in New York even, and not in decorations of studio, tends to make city one of the principal characters of film. Constantly punctuated of comments in voice-over, the film starts with an overflight of the town of day, then of night, follow-up of some zoom on the activity of its inhabitants at a hour given. The camera returns then by a window to seize the scene of the drama. From there, the film will describe, with a documentary precision, all the course of the investigation until its outcome. Without really following characters, but while observing moreover further.
