Synopsis
The Old man and Leonce, two men of an unquestionable age, discuss the life, death, the women or the sex. Initially being wary one towards the other, both will be disturbed by the appearance of Nacifa, their young person and new Maghrebian cleaning lady.The film rocks little by little in a saraband revealing a worrying personification of Death.
Comment
The realizer joins again with surrealism with the appearance of the character allegorical and worrying, Death being usually represented with black toga and false but this time differently brought thanks to the play of Catherine Hiegel. Blier plays of this appearance and even allows himself to give counterparts - crusty on this character of Reaper which complains suddenly about its fate and the role that the destiny makes him hold!Not having feared upon the engagement, the realizer gives an opinion to denounce of torture rooms of torture at the time of the war of Algeria and their peace of today in spite of their past.
The central subject of film, two people at the retirement age finding the comfort near a female presence that traditional social cleavage does not enable them any more to hope, announces by direct continuity nearest sound film.
Since " acteurs" , the dialogs are engraved and Blier gives pleasure by the fast succession of settings in situations by which it puts in scene its protagonists. This part and this film are the confirmation.
