the Cheetah ( It Gattopardo ), appeared in 1958, is a novel posthumous, victorious Prix Strega in 1959 (in string with the autobiography of Mario Praz, the House of the life ), and written by the prince Giuseppe Tomasi, duke of Lampedusa. It traces there the life of gift Fabrizio Salina, a sicilian prince , in the middle of the Italian revolutionary torments of the Risorgimento. But it is especially a history of Sicily and transition between an old order and a new order. The author apparently took as a starting point Giulio de Lampedusa to create the character of gift Fabrizio. The weapons of this last were however a lion léopardé (i.e. passing the made-to-order of the leopard), that the author transformed into Guépard in his work.
