Old parish of the old diocese of Avranches, or Avranchin, the Chair-Baudouin holds his name of Baudouin of Grinding stones, lord Norman of XIe century, prince rollonide.

Church and cemetery

  • the Saint-Ouen church rebuilt in XVe century, shortly after the War One hundred Year old as testify the loopholes to them to the bell-tower. It was entirely altered in 1606, after serious destruction perpetrated during the wars of religion by Gabriel de Montgomery, lord of Ducey, and regicide of the king Henri II. The bedside has a beautiful axial window in the style of the Renaissance, surrounded by pilasters and decorations carved out of granite. The nave, old but of unspecified time, was renovated in 1750, date of the addition of a news façace bored by a large door in handle of basket.

Mobilier

  • the font of the church is of XVIe century.

Manors

  • the cemetery, of circular form, is supposed to be the old one “put Balduini” of Baudouin of Meules, wire of Gilbert de Brionne, tutor of William the Conqueror; he gave his name to the parish. The cemetery is decorated of a cross of high size out of granite, given by Jean Hulin in 1781.
  • the manor of the Montier , near the church, is one of the old seigneuriaux manors of the Chair-Baudouin. It belonged to the family of Auray of Saint-Pea.

Vaults

  • There exists nothing any more but one of the four old vaults of the Chair-Baudouin. She is located in the farm of the Abbeys, but she is now transformed into barn. The armorial bearings of Auray is reproduced on one of the beams of the frame. It dates from the XVIIe century.
  • the vaults of Ourserie and Normandy do not exist any more.
