Religious heritage

In the middle of the village, the church, under the term of penitent of Magdala, Holy Marie-madeleine, proudly draws up her bell-tower up to 42 meters of the ground. The construction of the building spreads out 13th century for the oldest parts (sanctuary, chorus, transept), at the end of the Middle Ages. The bell-tower, not of test card of many roads of the surroundings, is square, with three stages and cover by a roof briarde as a double bâtière overcome by an arrow of covered slate frame.

The plan of the church is relatively simple. The unit appears to go back to first half of the 13th century, in spite of the archaism of the sexpartite vaults of the chorus. The nave, much more sober, with apparent frame, testifies to a construction in several stages concerned with different silent partners. The chorus includes/understands two arched spans bordered in the south by an old vault seigneuriale.

The frame which covers it is an good example of medieval frame, in the past decorated of a skirting replaced today by a plaster coating. The nave is bordered, in the south, by a wood gallery which acts as porch and, in north, by a currently unused side.

Against the northern side of the chorus, the bell-tower of the church protests whose first stages appear to date from the 13th century whereas the higher levels were built only at the end of the medieval time or perhaps even during the Classique time.

Classified since 1921 among the Historic buildings, the church Sainte Marie-madeleine of the Châtelet-in-Brie counts among the large buildings of Seine-et-Marne.
