the Châtel-on-Moselle is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Châtellois.

Geography

History

With the Middle Ages, the Châtel-on-Moselle was a fortified town, founded in 1072. Wedge Burgundian in the Duché of Lorraine, the fortress belonged to the family of Vaudémont, then with the family of Neufchâtel. She was dismantled in 1670 - 1671 by the French of the marshal of Créquy.

Previously called Châtel, the common one took its current name the June 21st 1961.
