The Cedilla

the Cedilla is a group Hip-hop Soul Jazz created in 1997 with Besancon, in Franche-Comté.

Description and influences

Atypical group of the hexagonal scene hip-hop, the Cedilla plays with the words and “fact smile the sounds”. Mainly French and African roots, the formation sails between hip-hop, jazz, drunk person and rap, creating a modern and refreshing musical amalgam that urban poetry and claim dispute.

The Cedilla it is a low round, a battery, a Guitare, a Trombone, a Saxophone and 2 mc' S with the service of the hip hop since 1997. Although its members come from various horizons, Jazz, Funk, rap, Salsa, this group originating in Besancon proposes a whole creation which they name “hip hop instantaneous”. Rich person of more than one hundred of hopelessly optimistic compositions, the Cedilla holds a speech at the same time bucolic and urban. On scene the Cedilla proposes a dynamic spectacle and intimist where each protagonist takes the initiative of the estrade in turn. This group is a “free” formation in a music often created up to now by machines. With “Seen the Broad one”, the Cedilla comes to occupy a music scene which counts among Anglo-Saxons of the formations such as The Roots or Opus Akoben but which was still lacking in the francophonie.

They in particular divided the scene with groups such as Of the Drunk person, The Herbaliser, Jay Dee, Wax Taylor, Brooklyn Funk Essentials, LKJ, Meï Teï Shô, Djolof, Poncho Kings and well of others.

From the exit of the album Seen broad in 2005, they mainly occurred in France, England and with the Quebec within the framework of various rounds and festivals, of which the Francofolies of Montreal in 2006. The group currently works with the realization of their next album.
