the Cat of the rabbi is a series of Cartoon.

Synopsis

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Chat of a Rabbin of Algiers tells its life and its dialogs with its Master. Indeed, this cat speaks since it devoured the Perroquet but it says only lies or wounding truths. Especially, the animal wants to become Jewish to like Zlabya, the girl of the rabbi.

Analyzes

This tale with the apparently whimsical pretext allows the author an exploration of the Jewish religion and Jewish culture of Algeria, two topics also neglected by the cartoon - but not by the literature: one will read die die of heavy winks to the novels of Albert Cohen, for example. Against any waiting, this series obtained a very important success, including apart from the public of the amateurs of cartoon.

  • the Cat of the rabbi was adapted to the theater by Camille Nahum under the title the Bar-mitsva of the Cat of the rabbi , created with the theater Michel Galabru (September 18th - December 20th, 2004) and taken again with the theater of the temple in (March 22nd - April 28th, 2005). The setting in scene was of Elects McLeod and of Sei Shiomi, the actors were Rémy Darcy, Shiran Azoulay and Camille Nahum.
