the Candle of the Sapper is a French humorous periodic newspaper which appears all the February 29th, since 1980, that is to say every four years (the leap years). Its name was selected in homage to the hero of Cartoon created by Christophe, the Sapeur Camember, character born one February 29th, which one thus blows the candles of Anniversaire on this quadriannuelle date.

In 2004, in supplement of number 7, appears number 1 of the Candle of the sapper - Sunday , intended to appear only the February 29th which is also Sunday (either every 28 years).

The newspaper is drawn with: 200000 specimens. It is distributed by NMPP. It was rested by Jacques Debuisson and Christian Bailly, his Editor association is Jean d' Indy, his Directeur of the publication Richard Prideaux-Debuisson.
