the Breitenbach-High-Rhine is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.

There exists a village bearing the same name Breitenbach in the the Low-Rhine, which explains the official name of the Breitenbach-High-Rhine.

History

Its known origin goes back to the 13th century, of “Breit” (broad) and “Bach” (river). It belonged to the community of the valley of Munster (Abbaye of Munster) until the French revolution and developed at the 19th century thanks to industrialization.
