The Box

The Box is a Canadian group of Pop-rock'n'roll, formed in 1982 with Montreal.

It was formed by the song writer and performer Jean-Marc Pisapia (Montreal, November 13rd, 1957), which had before made rounds as clavierist of Men Without Hats, and by Luc Papineau, who were to act as sound engineer. With the other members of the group, Guy Pisapia (keyboards), Jean-Pierre Brie (low guitar) and Guy Florent (guitar), The Box recorded his first micr., The Box (1983-84, Alert BD-1000), which included “ Walk Away ” and “Must I Always Remember ”.

With Claude Thibault, to replace Florent, and the addition of Philippe Bernard (battery), The Box was its first national success in 1985 thanks to the bilingual song “ the Business Dumoutier ” (appeared on All the Time, All the Time, All the Time… , Alert BD-1003), followed in 1987 by the songs to success “ Closer Together ”, “ Ordinary People ” and “ Crying out Loud for Coils ” (on Closer Together , Alert BD-1005).

The Box obtained the contest of the singers Sylvie Daviau, Sass Jordan and Martine St-Clearly for Closer Together , which was sold with more than 100.000 specimens and gained a Felix trophy like anglophone album of the year 1987.

A fourth album (cassette and CD), The Pleasure and the Bread (1989, Alert Z1-81014), included successes “ Carry One ”, “ Temptation ” and “ Inside My Heart ”.

The Box cut a place in the traditional tradition of the rock'n'roll thanks to songs with the refrains easy to memorize, impressed populist social conscience and feelings, and thanks to the disarming settings in scene of Jean-Marc. The Box received Felix trophies like groups year in 1985, like anglophone group and for the video (“ Closer Together ”) of the year in 1987. It carried out several rounds in Canada, as much as head of poster in the nightclubs, the places in concert (for example Ontario Place) and in the universities, than in the arenas like first part of spectacles of Chris De Burgh (1987) and several others.

The Box tried to carry out a return in 2005 but without success: the last album Black Dog there was badly sold and several spectacles had to be cancelled because the tickets were quite simply not sold.

A seventh album is in the course of production and should be born in 2008.

Made note, the first albums of The Box are now available in store.
