Synopsis

Charles-Edmond, the elder one of the Larmentiel brothers, decides to return to La Rochelle, his birthplace to die there. Forty years earlier it had been driven out by it by his father. Before trespassing, the old original announces that it has a hidden son, Emile, sailor-fisherman to which it wishes to bequeath his goods. Francois, the younger brother, that Charles-Edmond hates, lorgne on the heritage to reinflate the powerful family company, true trust of fishing, and will try to adapt the affection and the goods of this inappropriate heir. Emile, as for him, is too occupied disputing with Fernande, singer of beugland, to suspect from what awaits it…
