Short summary of the history

At eighteen years, in 1869, Julien Benazet, native of the Razès, between Aude and Ariège, grew in the middle of the stocks and of the barrels, learning the hard trade from Forgeron in Maître Costesèque. Fleeing the hard supervision of an alcoholic father, it goes up to Paris and is made engage with the Duchaussoix factories. It becomes acquainted with Joseph then, a libertarian workman who dreams of a better life, near his friend Marie, a young ironer. Surprised by the war of 1870, undergoing the seat of the Prussian , they are plunged soon in the storm of the Commune, in the middle of Paris in flames. Julien, to escape death, flees in Ariège with his friend, in the country of Engraviès where his/her uncle has a small wine property. Become vine grower, it meets Mathilde at the season of the grape harvest…
