The Black Parades
The Black Parade is the third album studio of the group of American punk-rock'n'roll My Chemical Romance.
For this new opus, the members of the group decided to test, to test new instruments , according to the dires of the leader and singer of the group, Gerald Way.
The first public appearance
The name The Black Parade made its appearance for the very first time at the time of a concert of My Chemical Romance with London. Indeed, the evening in the concert in the English capital, a voice announces with the public “My Chemical Romance will not be able to come to play this evening for imperative reasons and the group sees itself some sincerely sorry. On the other hand, the group thought of making come from the good friends. ” A few seconds later, it is finally Gerald Way and its band which go up on the London scene. But they are not identifiable immediately, mainly because of the new look of Gerald. Indeed, him which had formerly the long and black hair, raises from now on an almost shaven cranium and platinum dye fair. As of the first words, the fans recognize the group however, even if Way initially exclaimed: “We are The Black Parade! ”.
The interview on the official site
According to an interview which one can at present see on the official site of The Black Parade (http://www.theblackparade.com), the desire of a change of look went hand in hand with the new musical direction undertaken by the group. At a questions session, Gerald Way speaks and explains that When we (My Chemical Romance) make a new album, it is not a question only of one new wafer but also like new step towards the future, and in what concerns us, it is each time about a step of giant . It continues by saying that This album was very difficult to make, but we all were there (members of MCR) the ones for the others. It recalls however that The Black Parade is the alter-ego of the members of My Chemical Romance, and not the new name of the group, do not mistake .
The singer also says that it is very proud the new individual one, Welcome to the Black Parade . It is a song which speaks about the memory most extremely that we have before dying. In this case, it is a little boy who went to a parade with his father. It is also the song which introduces our new sound, and I am very proud.
When one asks him with which sound can one expect the listening of this new effort, Way and its fellow-members explain why it acts of an album epic, symphonic, with much of different instruments, like the piano for example. It is an album concept, I point out it to you, he tells a history in several chapters, and by listening to it complete you will include/understand this history. We took again the best elements of the preceding albums, it is an album full with life, which will make you laugh and cry , promises the quintet originating in the New Jersey.
Exit of the album
The exit of the album is envisaged on October 24th, 2006 with the the United States and the Canada, on October 28th, 2006 in Australia and on October 23rd, 2006 in the other countries. The first individual one, it part-title of the album, is available on the legal download locations like ITunes since September 12th, 2006.
The album is available also in limited edition, which includes/understands a black box with inside Cd as well as a booklet of an about sixty pages which contains drawings and which tells the creative process of the album. He is written in great majority by the singer, Gerald Way.
History of the album
The album has as a main character a patient in final phase of a Cancer. One observes the evolution of this character, who after being diagnosed clinically died in the introduction The End and Dead! , reminds the memories of its childhood ( Welcome to the Black Parade ), evokes the regrets related to its disease ( Cancer ), remembers its life of soldier militiaman during the war ( Mama ). The album is concluded from a strange way with the part Famous Last Words , which one can interpret freely: the patient finally chose death or decided ressuciter.
Creative process
The creation of the album was more painful for the group. On this subject, the singer Gerald Way sees the thing in this way: “When we make a new album, they is always incredibly painful because we know that each new album brings us closer to the last”. The album was recorded in a manor apparently haunted of California. The ghostly presences that the members of the groups felt were the inspiration for the song Sleep of the album. Also, Mikey Way, brother of Gerald and bass player of the group, suffered from chronic depression during the recording failed well to drop the group so much its health condition was precarious.
