Around film
- In fact truths birds were used for film. The idea to use mechanical birds was quickly abandoned. It will result from it from many wounds for the actors. In the final scene, in particular, the birds were thrown on Tippi Hedren by accessories suppliers.
- As in much of films of Hitchcock, the majority of the decorations are out of paperboard because he hated to turn in real decorations. Thus, even the sights of the city and Bay of Bodega Bay are actually paintings.
- Another end had been envisaged with film, instead of finishing on a sight of the characters on the basis of the house, there was to be a scene where they arrive at San Francisco and where they discover that the birds devastated the city.
- Tippi Hedren was selected for the role because Hitchcock had seen it in a publicity. A scene in front of the animalery was plagiarized on this publicity. With Grace Kelly and Ingrid Bergman, Hedren is regarded as the great egery to sir Alfred. It will make it play in Pas of springs for Marnie the following year.
- Caméo : Alfred Hitchcock appears with the whole beginning of film, holding leaves of them two fox terriers, outgoing of a bird selling, its way crossing that of Tippi Hedren which is on the point of entering the shop. As he was told in documentary on film, the two dogs are those of the scenario writer, and were present on all the plates where Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville were.
- the scene in which Tippi Hedren is made attack by the birds in the attic of the house of the man that it likes is qualified by the film enthusiasts of " metaphor of the viol". The pain which emerges some, the plans tightened, the speed, the violence and the setting with naked of the character justify the explanation of it. Moreover, it is difficult to be unaware of the direction of the perversion of Hitchcock in its films, energy of voyeurism (Fenêtre on court) to the murder by jealousy (the Crime was almost perfect).
- Rod Taylor, which plays Mitch, in film, was often wounded by one of the birds employed for film. In addition, the actor, who had called Hitchcock “Alfred”, did not have of cease to regret this name. Indeed, the realizer was made call “Hitch” by the other actors, and that during all his career.
