Around film
-
the song My Mood Swings was composed by Elvis Costello, and Dead Flowers is a song of the Rolling Stones magnificiently taken again by Townes van Zandt.
- In the original version, the nickname of Jeff Lebowski is The Dude which would be translatable by the Guy in a familiar way and nonchalante. The choice of the translation was made in French on the Duke by homophony and irony.
- Certaines songs of film is group Creedence Clearwater Revival: for example Run through the Jungle and Lookin' out my backdoor ; because Jeffrey Lebowski is a fan of the Creedence!
- the group Autobahn , supposedly a group of " techno-pop" founded by the German nihilists of film exists almost in truth… Indeed, Autobahn is the title of an album of the group Kraftwerk (left in 1974), a group of German musicians considered as precursors of the Techno and the current Electronic music… Moreover graphics of the small pocket of the vinyl which appears in film is inspired by the small pocket of another album of the same group, Die Mensch-Machine (1977), where the members of the group are photographed wearing a red shirt and a black tie, as on the small pocket of false vinyl of film! But Kraftwerk does not count to former actors of porns nor nihilists among its rows…
- One of the nihilists is interpreted by Flea, bass player of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- the scene where Bunny Lebowski puts red at nails at the edge of its swimming pool is a reference to the film Lolita of Stanley Kubrick.
- the favorite drink of Dude is the White russian, cocktail containing vodka, of milk and coffee liquor.
- Above its bar, in its apartment, one can see a poster of Richard Nixon playing bowling.
