the Beginner is a Franco-Italian film of 1960 carried out by Alberto Lattuada with in the main roles Pascale Petit and Jean-Paul Belmondo.

He tells the history of an young girl taken with the trap. She will pronounce her wishes when a letter comes from to the convent, informant whom she takes the veil against her will. The priest in load of the beginners carries out the survey and discovers a disconcerting family.

Synopsis

Italy, the beginning of the Years 1960. Rita Passi is a girl of good family raised with the convent since the death of his/her father. During holidays, it becomes aware of the vanity and the vacuity of her mother, immature and without will. Their relation turns to the unhealthy one. Rita notices it and wants to leave its influence; it starts to disobey to him. It chooses for lover his young neighbor, precisely that whose his/her mother is the mistress. The drama approaches. The mother and the housekeeper, accomplices, draw aside Rita of the field of which it is the heiress with her majority, and send it to the convent. After having occulted the events during its noviciate, Rita redécouvre the truth.

Comment

The film was taxed with bad melodrama; but it puts in scene the dramatic relation between a mother and her daughter, who can relate to each one of us. The mother encroaches on the ground of the girl; and the girl kills her lover to reach her mother, whom she does not dare to face. The actors serve a scenario relentless well, and the realization and the assembly are also effective.
