The Be worth-on-Seine

the Be worth-on-Seine is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, to 20 km in the east of Mantes-the-Pretty.

The name of “Be worth” drift of the Latin valles , valley.

The inhabitants are called Vauxois.

Geography

It is a commune whose territory extends on four kilometers, along Right Bank of the the Seine and in the wooded solid mass of the Hautil in extreme cases southern of the French Vexin. It also includes an island of the Seine, the island of Are worth, opposite Verneuil-sur-Seine. The commune bordering on Évecquemont in the West, Menucourt and Boisemont in North, on Triel-sur-Seine in the East and, is separated by the Seine, on Verneuil-sur-Seine in the South.

It is served by the secondary road D 190, very attended, which connects Poissy to Mantes-the-Pretty. It also lays out of a station ('' the Be worth-on-Seine '') on the line ferrovaire Paris-Saint-Lazare - Mantes-the-Pretty via Conflans-Holy-Honorine

History

  • Site inhabited since the Paleolithic time .

  • Anciennement “Be worth of Jouste” until in 1902.

  • Seigniory with Count of Saint-Simon, favorite of Louis XIII and father of the memorialist.

Architectural heritage

  • Church Saint-Pierre-be-Bonds: church of the 12th century, rebuilt after the One hundred year old war and restored in 1970. It was classified historic building in 1977. The foundation Maxime Goury-Laffont took part in the restoration of a virgin of the 17th century preserved in this church.
  • Castle: building of the 15th century, classified historic building in 1996.

  • the painter and contemporary draftsman, Jean Olivier Hucleux, born in 1923 with Chauny, in the Aisne, always lives and works in the Be worth-on-Seine.
