Film analyzes
Mickey for the first time is presented like a soldier and take share with the engagements. The short film describes a fictitious war but allots to each camp remarkable elements. Thus the cats have helmets used by the army of the German Empire during the First World War (1914-1918) while the mice sing anthems of the States confederated of America at the time of the American Civil War (1861-1865). These two events are still recent in the spirits of American in 1929 and allow a good identification of the belligerents in black film and white.
The scene of physical and moral examination, followed by the delivery of a weapon, is often regarded as génante but it should be noticed that at the time of film, the Europe started to feel some of the effects of the endoctriments, realized by certain political movements, such as the Jeunesses hitlériennes (create in 1922).
